DESCRIPTION: This proposed community theater, located in the former sugar cane fields outside of Lihue, is beautifully situated with the dramatic Hoary Head Mountains in the background.
The “Y” shaped theater allows the stage to have an operable “backstage wall” that completely disappears, providing a full view of the mountains from inside the auditorium. With the “backstage wall” open, the sloping lawn seating area has full view of the stage interior, creating a “theater in the round” effect. In the closed position, the “backstage wall” serves as an exterior movie screen.
