DESCRIPTION: Hurricane Iniki devastated the historic Lihue Theater, built during the golden age of theaters in the early 20th century. As historic architect, Gary restored the lobby and marque. Museum-quality display panels explaining the history of the theater were also designed and are now on permanent display. The termite-ridden auditorium was demolished to make way for a new housing addition for the elderly. This project received a preservation award.
